By Stacy Gurrie
This week I finished the 6 month journey of Women Rising. A program designed to empower women in IT, encourage authenticity, confidence and leadership skills. Women Rising allowed me to explore my values, thoughts, and ideas in leadership across all aspects of life.
A program like this can be confronting, especially in a professional environment, a pandemic, and just day-to-day life as a working mum. However, I was far from alone with a fantastic cohort of inspirational women sharing their own stories over the 6 months. When I started, I had no idea what to expect, was this something else I needed to fit into my day? After the 1st session instantly, you realise that this is an investment in "you" and being true to yourself and those around you.
I am grateful for the support received in the program and those around me, especially Brad Gurrie and Robert Roshan, to work through these ideas and reflections and help me translate into my reality and who I want to be as a person and a leader.
Thank you, Megan Dall-Camina & Microsoft, for this fantastic program. Thank you Byte, for your continued support of women in technology. I am looking forward to continuing this journey and sharing it with Pushpita Das, Byte's next participant.
My key takeouts; take the time to invest in yourself – there are a million reasons why you can't but one fundamental reason you should….for you! Be vulnerable, be confident, be your authentic self
